• <H3> Welcome to Rochester. LYRA 2017 is co-hosted by Genesee and Rochester Yacht Clubs – two great clubs with a long history of competitive sailing on LYRA waters. We are planning a great party and great racing at this year’s annual regatta.

• <H3> LYRA 2017 is proud to introduce our Title Sponsor – Quantum Sails, Rochester’s hometown sailmakers. When we first talked to the Quantum team about sponsoring LYRA, we agreed on one thing right off the bat – their contribution should directly benefit the sailors. The Quantum team will be unfurling the perfect sailor’s package with everything from professional pre-race weather briefings to on-site sail repairs, raffle items, post-race expert de-briefs and a free rum party. Big thanks to Kris Werner and the Quantum Rochester team for stepping up to make LYRA 2017 the most sailor friendly event of the season.

• <H2> Centennial Race: July 31 – Toronto to Rochester
• <H2> Founders Race East: August 1 – Sodus to Rochester
• <H2> Founders Race West: August 1 – Whitby to Rochester
• <H2> Freeman Cup: August 2 – Rochester – Sodus – ODAS – Rochester
• <H2> Course Racing: August 4-6 – Rochester

• <H3> All events will offer IRC, PHRF and one-design divisions.
• <H2> Centennial Race
• <H3> This year’s Centennial race will start in Toronto, pass a mark at Oak Orchard and finish at Rochester.
• <H2> Founder’s Races
• <H3> There will be two Founder’s Races with the gift of a second trophy from Whitby Yacht club in 2016. The race from the west will start at Whitby and the race from the east will start at Sodus Point and both will finish at Rochester.
• <H2> The Freeman Cup Races
• <H3> The Freeman Cup Races will start and finish at Rochester. Preliminary plans have the short course running from Rochester to Wautoma Shoals buoy, to Sodus Bay and back to Rochester. The long course will start at Rochester, round mark at Sodus, round the ODAS weather buoy off Pt. Pitre, and return to Rochester.
• <H1> Course Racing
• <H3> Course racing will run Friday, Saturday & Sunday – August 4-6.
• <H3> Three race courses are planned – IRC and 8-Metre Classes, PHRF and R-Boats, and One-Design Classes.
• <H3> Top flight Principal Race Officers have been lined up for each course. We are pleased to have Wayne Bretsch, Bill Topping and Teresa Strout as PROs for our three race courses.

• <H3> Registration and information for all LYRA events will be on-line on Yachtscoring.com. Yacht Scoring is a fast and easy way to register, pay entry fees, update your boat information and see who else is sailing. Registration will open in late April / early May.
